In order to make this forum as friendly as possible, here are some general rules to follow when posting.

This is an all ages forum. As such, please refrain from using any obscene or vulgar language or other content in your posts. Although some simple measures have been taken to prevent this, it is far from perfect.

Respect everyone. Be respectful of fellow members, moderators, and admins. Joking around is fine, just remember to keep it clean (see above). Don't attack people, though. If you have any problems with a fellow member, please try to resolve it privately. The email system here is anonymous, meaning that the recipient will only know your username, not your real email address. If you still have problems, then notify an admin. If everyone just respects everyone else, this shouldn't be a problem.

Keep on topic. There are several different topics listed, post in the one that best fits what you are trying to say. If you think there should be a topic that isn't listed, you can suggest it in the Forum Suggestions area.

Don't Crosspost.(Added Mar. 7, 2004) Don't post the same thing in several forums. This is typically done by people trying to sell something. All the extra posts will be deleted except for one that's in the proper location. If there isn't one there, one of the topics will be moved there. Constant abuse of this will be grounds for deletion of all topics and banning of your username. This is one of my big pet peeves and WILL NOT be tolerated.

Use a descriptive subject. This one applies to anywhere you have a subject line (email, message boards, etc). Make your subject descriptive. You may wonder why messages with a subject of "need help" doesn't get much help. Although this is more common on very busy boards, it also has an effect on smaller boards. So instead of "need help" you can use something like "Rex crashes computer." Or even better, "Rex crashes WinXP Pro when Rex Tools starts."

Make your message concise. Although forums are an informal medium, still use basic grammar and punctuation when composing messages. It doesn't have to be perfect, just have a good, basic layout. If asking for help, explain exactly what your problem is, what software/hardware you are using, and any steps you have already taken to solve it.

No spam!(Added Sep. 10, 2005) There have been several attempts to use this site to aid in increasing page ranks for sites by posting several links and attempting to hide them so that only search engines will find them. This is considered spam to me and will not be tolerated. After one such message you're account will be deleted and you are banned from accessing this site any longer.
