I am installing my beloved old REX 3 on a Windows XP Pro laptop w. PCMCIA slot. I have had this working properly on previous laptops but have lost track of the requisite files / drivers.

Anyone know where to find these files?

1. 5000-TSPLUS.EXE
2. 5000-TSCI-STARFISH.EXE
3. 5000-REXW2K_100.EXE

Any help appreciated...

OK, so I suck at search... There is no '5000-' prefix on the files at the Intel support site.

...and since I now have my requisite 2 posts...

Here's the Intel site that still seems to be working.

Here are my updated instructions, which I adapted from http://rex6000.fortunecity.com/Content/rex-os.htm#5000xp

Setting up the REX 3/Pro/3000/5000 in Windows XP, including the use of the PCMCIA slot

The installation information below was generously provided by Skip, with modifications for using the ‘tspr6update’ program from the Tice web site.

It is necessary to uninstall previous attempts to load Truesync.

1. Download the following files. Save each file to a different folder and execute them from there.

First two are from Intel, 3rd is from Tice.

File 1: TSPLUS.EXE <- Select REX 5000 Downloads, Windows 2000
File 2: REXW2K_100.EXE <- Select REX 5000 Downloads, Windows 2000
File 3: tspr6update.exe <- Under the Rex 3/5 Pro, Windows section

Intel site: http://www.intel.com/support/peripherals/xc/pda/sb/cs-021096.htm
Tice site: http://www.tice.i12.com/

The Tice site also has downloads for TrueSync Information Manager v1.2, TrueSync Desktop v2.0b, and other files from the Intel site.

2. Run TSPLUS.EXE to extract the files in it. Then run SETUP (it will be in the "DISK1” folder that is created when you run TSPLUS.EXE). If you are running an Outlook version later than Outlook 98 you can ignore the error about Outlook 98.

3. Run the self-contained tspr6update program from Tice. This is an off-line version of the Truesync Installer (TSCI-STARFISH.EXE) that does not require a web connection to run and actually works.

4. Follow the prompts in the installer and choose the following components to update:

- TrueSync Plus
- REX PRO (if you have a REX Pro or REX 5000)
- Outlook 2000 (or whatever version of Outlook you are using)

5. Run REXW2K_100.EXE. (This self-extracting EXE contains the Windows 2000 patch. We are on Windows XP, but the 2000 drivers work.)

6. Run REXW2KUPGRADE.EXE (that was extracted from REXW2K_100.EXE.) This allows the use of the Rex in the PCMCIA slot.

7. Now start Outlook and insert the REX card. On the taskbar (top of screen) will be the TrueSync icon. Click it and sync the REX.

Steve! Thanks for working through this and posting a summary for others to use. Various REX help and program files are in the process of being lost, so this will help others looking for this info.

Maybe I'll be inspired to get my REX 5000 synching up on my XP machine now as well -- currently only synching my REX6000, but before a re-install I used to have both synching up on the same machine.

Phil.

Hi there,

I have been trying to install REX-3 on my Laptop for use via PCMCIA slot. I have tried to get hold of the relevant drivers. Unfortunately TICE site is not working anymore.

I have misplaced my original software CD.

Can someone upload the relevant files.

Regards,

Shyam
