(sorry, I firsted posted this in 'Mods' & then realized this category was more appropriate)

I'll bet if you try this solution you won't try anything else again:

Please look at this incredible rex/money/cards/receipts minimalist wonder that I haved used for years: http://www.storus.com/moneyclipspecs.html
You put your Rex where Storus says to put MAPS cards. It could not possibly fit better or more securely. Button end in first for safety. Face up for instant use or face down for maximum screen protection. Then just wrap your cash around your cards & receipts and put them in the clip, which has large and small capacity and never loses its tension. With familiarity, everything becomes second nature and you have instant access to the whole package. Over the years, in efforts to get this in the hands of Rexers, I have written rex6000.org, emailed & called Storus to no avail. I have used it for years while doing my building and it carries the Rex safely and everything else too. I go on, but I am just amazed at some of the goofy solutions I have seen, while this perfect one goes unnoticed.

Marc:

I think I might have seen a posting of yours about these moneyclip cases on REX Rumor Central a year or so ago (when it was still running). Regardless, after reading someone's posting about these clips, I ordered one and was very pleased with it. It is no longer my preferred case, but I still pull it out for certain occasions, and I think it's an excellent solution for someone who wants to pare down the REX and case to its smallest possible size.

In an earlier posting about cases including the Storus moneyclip, I promised that I would eventually post a few pictures of it with the REX inserted. Today I finally got around to scanning the photos and uploading them to some server space a friend has provided me with: photos of Storus MoneyClip REX case.

There's no webpage there yet, just photos. The first photo in the list is an image of my current favourite case: the standard REX case with a Victorinox SwissCard inserted in the facing flap and with Paul Lenz's modifiied Saitek light stylus. The rest of the photos are various views of the REX inserted in a Storus MoneyClip.

Also, for those who use the Storus MoneyClip, you will probably want to figure out some kind of stylus solution you can carry around in another pocket or attached to some other wearable item. One solution is to get a Fisher SpacePen wallet (scroll down) and to use one of their Space Pens with the stylus built into the cap. This slightly detracts from the true minimalist REX approach, but I found that I wanted a wallet of some sort to hold my MAPS/bank cards anyways, in addition to the moneyclip -- and of course, it gives you a handy, high quality pen as well.

Phil.

Phil, I am glad you saw my previous testimonial and tried the Storus. I hope more people try the Storus clip. Conveniently packing all that stuff into such a small front pocket solution is the only way for me. I rarely forget my driver's license and money, so the REX always hitchhikes along, unobtrusively ready to act.
***FOR MAXIMUM REX PROTECTION I can attest from experience that the button end of the REX should be inserted first into the Storus. I had a few problems with the buttons going in last but none with them in first. And I put it through a lot of construction guy stress.

STYLUS: I use the SUPERB Lamy 2000 four color ball point pen. Any good pen store has a stylus replacement that will sub for any of the four colors.

ALSO WAY COOL / ALSO MINIMALIST: Check out Photons amazingly small and powerful flashlights. They are the size of 2 stacked quarters and as strong as much bigger high intensity flashlights.
***THE BEST THING is they use CR2016 batteries! The Photon comes in 3 models: I, II & III. The light can be any of several colors, but red, yellow and orange use a single 2025 (great for REX PRO) as opposed to all the other colors which use a pair of 2016s.
***BATTERY ACCESS is snap open simple with Photon I & III. Photon II is closed with 4 tiny screws and is less useful as a ready battery backup for the 6000.
***PHOTON LINK: http://www.photonlight.com/index2.html

Aside from a pocket knife and sometimes a cell phone, that is the simple and complete kit that will take me where I want to go.
